What brought you to the commissioning field?
My career progression started as a controls engineer, programming and writing sequences of operation. I enjoyed troubleshooting and prided myself in having a bulletproof sequence. As a mechanical design engineer, I used that experience to design systems with operations and energy efficiency in mind. Commissioning enabled me to use both of these passions to provide functional, sustainable buildings.

What brought you to the commissioning field?
When I worked as controls contractor, I struggled to understand why sequence of operations were not being coordinated between EOR and mechanical, ie air handing units or central plants. In addition, why electrical, plumbing, test & balance were not completing installation or testing systems prior to turning them over to the owner/facilities. Then I heard about a systems commissioning agent trying to schedule testing with me at Las Vegas Hilton. It definitely peaked my interest and I finally someone who can help the struggling owners.

What brought you into the commissioning field?
After 28 years in the hotel/resort industry, I had been disappointed with the level of completion/condition of mechanical equipment and controls left by the installing contractors. I decided that I needed to move forward and make a positive impact on the industry. I felt my career direction would be best served by entering the commissioning field and having the ability to impact the construction industry by ensuring building standards and design criteria were met prior to being turned over to the owners.
