Purpose:

The Technical Specialist is responsible for the application of the commissioning process used by TMCx for new commissioning projects, retro-commissioning projects, continuous commissioning projects, and forensic engineering projects. This process includes assisting all levels of TMCx team members in implementing strong functional commissioning processes and procedures. The Technical Specialist works closely with TMCx team members and is mentored by Engineers, Operations Manager, and Executives. They help with questions, problem solving, documentation, testing, and reporting. This position emphasizes, but is not limited to commissioning work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities - including, but not limited to:

  • Support all levels of TMCx office team members execution of successful commissioning projects
  • Assist the Project Manager in creating project schedules, specification and system descriptions, problem solving, and conducting commissioning meetings and final reports
  • Assist the Project Manager in coordination with the Owner, Architect, Other Consultants, Owner’s Representative, Construction Manager, General Contractor, and other subcontractors
  • Update progress reports and issues resolution logs; provide a daily log of activities, provide and maintain other data logs as requested; accurately record all information in the CMI
  • Participate and assist in the execution of equipment start-up, pre-functional testing, functional testing, and TAB verification
  • Conduct periodic on-site observations of the installation in progress
  • Aid in identifying construction and design issues and resolutions
  • Participate in the customer training program
  • Participate in Company and project safety programs and drug screening

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education & Certifications: Trade school Associate's Degree in a construction trade including, but not limited to test and balance, mechanical service, or construction management; a Commissioning Technician (CxT) certification by ACG is required
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years field experience in construction of HVAC systems, BAS Controls, Test and Balance provider and/or Mechanical/Electrical service
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Position Type:

This is an exempt position, with an expectation of a minimum of 40 hours per week. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. The salary will be commensurate with experience and location.

 

Work Environment/Dynamics:

On site in new and existing construction. Candidate must be able to physically move about all phases of a building site without assistance. Travel will be required.
